Emergency at Sea
Imagine being the captain of an ocean-going motor vessel. During the night your ship hits a partly-submerged container. No one could see it. A crack opens up under the waterline and the engine room is quickly flooded. Everyone onboard scrambles to do what they can, but the situation is desperate. You realise the ship is going down and you give the order "Prepare to abandon ship". A claxon sounds and everyone gets the life-boats ready on the deck. You have to radio for help, but the generator has stopped and there is no power. The water is rising. What you do next will test all your radio skills. Do you remember how to get the radio working and the emergency radio operating procedures? Will anyone hear your distress call and come to help? This is really shaping up to be an emergency at sea...
